In short

Anxiety therapy at Counseling Services for Wellbeing helps Seattle-area adults with worry, panic and a body that stays braced, treating anxiety as a whole-body pattern, not a thinking problem alone. We accept most major insurance plans, book same-week appointments and see clients at our Green Lake, Burien and Smokey Point offices or by secure video statewide.

Does this sound familiar?

You have already tried thinking your way out of it.

It is two in the morning and your mind will not power down. You run the same loop, the conversation you should have handled differently, the thing on tomorrow's list that feels bigger than it is, the worry that does not have a name. Your chest is tight. Your jaw is set. Your stomach knots before the day has even started.

During the day it shows up as dread before you open your inbox, a body that stays braced even when nothing is actually wrong, a low hum you cannot turn off. You have probably been told to just breathe, just relax, just stop overthinking. If that worked, you would have done it already.

Anxiety lives in the body as much as the mind, and that is exactly where good anxiety therapy meets it. You have already tried thinking your way out of it. The next step is to put your body in the room too.

What we offer

Anxiety therapy for adults whose worry is no longer just in their head.

Anxiety in the chest

Racing heart, tight chest, panic episodes, shallow breath that never lands.

Anxiety in the shoulders and jaw

The permanent brace. Shoulders up around your ears by noon. TMJ. Headaches by 4pm.

Wrecked sleep, 3am wake-ups

Racing thoughts at bedtime. Waking flooded at 3am with your heart pounding. Exhausted all day.

GI-flavored anxiety

Nausea before meetings. The stomach drop walking into a room. IBS-flavored anxiety that maps to the day.

Social anxiety

Dread being watched or judged. Replaying conversations for hours. The cost of every social calendar slot.

Perfectionism, work stress, burnout

High-functioning on the outside. The body knows what the calendar will not say. Looking fine, running on fumes.

First-time-therapy adults are welcome. You do not need to have it figured out before you reach out.

Our approach

How anxiety therapy works here.

We treat anxiety as a whole-body pattern, working with your sleep, your body and your thinking together, rather than talking in isolation.

1

Reach out

A short form or a call. We hear what is going on, where anxiety lives for you, and what you have already tried. No assessment battery, no diagnostic interview to clear before we talk.

2

Get matched

We pair you with an anxiety therapist whose modality fits how your anxiety actually shows up. Body-stored anxiety lands with a somatic clinician. Trauma underneath lands with EMDR. Parts that argue land with IFS.

3

Start this week

First appointment in-person at one of three Seattle-area offices or by secure video anywhere in Washington. Same therapist each session. The first few are about understanding your anxiety and giving you something to work with, not diving into the deep end before you are ready.

The method

Why a whole-body lens.

Cognitive behavioral therapy, which the American Psychological Association describes as a highly effective approach for anxiety disorders, is broadly available across our team. For people whose anxiety sits heavily in the body, we have therapists who work somatically and with nervous-system regulation.

CBT for what it does well. Somatic and nervous-system regulation for what CBT cannot reach. EMDR when there is a trauma flavor underneath. IFS for the parts that argue with each other. We match the modality to how your anxiety actually shows up, not the other way around.

Frequently asked questions

What adults ask before starting anxiety therapy.

Do you take my insurance for anxiety therapy?

We accept Kaiser, Premera, Regence, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Cigna. Coverage for therapy can work differently by plan, so we will confirm exactly what your plan covers before your first session. You will not be left guessing about cost.

How soon can I be seen?

First appointments are available the same week, not weeks out. Much of the Seattle anxiety market books four to six weeks ahead or is cash-pay only, so you do not have to sit on a waitlist while your chest stays tight. Reach out and we will find the first opening that fits.

Is this just CBT?

No. CBT is one of several approaches on the team. We also work somatically and with nervous-system regulation for anxiety that lives in the body, with EMDR when there is a trauma flavor underneath, and with IFS for the parts of you that argue with each other. We match the modality to how your anxiety actually shows up, not the other way around.

Do you offer EMDR for anxiety?

Yes. EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is available on the team for anxiety connected to past trauma. Most of our anxiety-trained clinicians are EMDR-trained, so it can be folded in when the trauma flavor underneath the anxiety is part of what is keeping it going.

Do you work with panic attacks and 3am wake-ups?

Yes. Panic, racing heart, chest tightness, broken sleep and 3am wake-ups are some of the most common patterns we work with. Body-stored anxiety lands well with somatic and nervous-system work alongside the talk-based piece, because the body is doing as much of the work as the mind.

Do you offer anxiety therapy online or only in person?

Both. You can meet in person at our Green Lake, Burien or Smokey Point offices, or by secure video anywhere in Washington with online anxiety therapy. The same therapist either way. If commuting adds to your anxiety, telehealth is a real option, not a downgrade.

What happens in the first appointment?

The first session is about understanding your anxiety, in your thoughts and your body, and giving you something to work with. Not diving into the deep end before you are ready. The later work focuses on changing how you respond to anxiety so it stops running the day.

Take the next step

You do not have to keep getting through the day braced for something that never comes.

Anxiety therapy can give you room to breathe again, and you can start this week. Counseling Services for Wellbeing accepts most major insurance plans, books first appointments the same week, and matches you with a therapist who treats anxiety as a whole-body pattern, in person at our Green Lake, Burien and Smokey Point offices or by secure video across Washington.
