Our story

Our story.

Counseling Services for Wellbeing was built on a simple idea: mental health care should treat the whole person, and it should not ask you to coordinate it yourself across separate offices. This is how that idea became a practice.

Where it began

One place for the whole person.

Counseling Services for Wellbeing was co-founded by clinical director Issy Kleiman, LMFT, on the idea that therapy and psychiatry should live under one roof. The thinking was straightforward. A person who is struggling rarely struggles in just one way, and they should not have to assemble their own care from separate practices that never talk to each other.

So the practice was built around a holistic, integrative model: care that honors each person's story and supports their growth across emotional, physical and spiritual domains. That meant a place where talk therapy and psychiatric medication management could sit side by side, where the people providing them could coordinate directly, and where the first step was understanding the person rather than sorting them into a single service.

A letter from our co-founder

"My approach has always been rooted in warmth, collaboration, and curiosity."

For over 27 years, I have worked in mental health, helping individuals, couples and families work through their journeys toward healing and self-discovery. I no longer practice as a therapist directly. Today I serve as Clinical Director here, providing clinical supervision, mentorship and guidance to a team of trained associate-level therapists.

I believe in a holistic, integrative model of care that honors each person's story and supports their growth across emotional, physical and spiritual domains. My mission as Clinical Director is to ensure every client who comes through our doors feels seen, supported and empowered. I want you to feel confident and assured that you are in excellent hands with our team.

How we work now

From one clinician's vision to a whole team.

The founding idea has grown into a multi-disciplinary group practice. Therapy and psychiatry still share one roof, and the structure around them has been built so that every client is met by a clinician trained for what they are bringing in.

1

Therapy and psychiatry together

Talk therapy and psychiatric medication management live in the same practice, so a person can address what they feel from more than one angle without coordinating across separate offices.

2

Supervision and a training program

Senior clinical supervision is built into the team, and a multi-year training program develops associate-level therapists with the tools, ethics and insight to offer effective, culturally responsive and affirming care.

3

Three offices, plus statewide video

We see clients in person at our Green Lake, Burien and Smokey Point offices, or by secure video anywhere in Washington, with same-week first appointments.

A multi-disciplinary team

Therapists and psychiatric providers whose training spans trauma, mood, anxiety, eating disorders, ADHD, grief, identity, couples and family work.

Care built to coordinate

When both therapy and psychiatry are part of the work, the people providing them can coordinate directly rather than leaving the client to carry messages between two offices.

Insurance we know

We accept Kaiser, Premera, Regence, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Cigna, and we confirm your specific coverage before your first visit.

Growing the next generation

Developing associate-level clinicians under senior supervision is part of how we keep widening access to thoughtful, whole-person care.

Every client who comes through our doors should feel seen, supported and empowered.

The standard we hold ourselves to
What we stand for

The things we will not compromise on

Different clinicians, different specialties, one set of commitments that every person who works here shares.

Seen, supported and empowered

The measure of our care is whether each client feels understood and more capable than when they walked in, not whether they fit a template.

Compassionate and evidence-based

Warm, collaborative, curious care that is still grounded in approaches with real evidence behind them. The two are not in tension.

Culturally responsive and affirming

Care that honors who each person is, with clinicians trained to meet identity, culture and lived experience rather than work around them.

Whole-person from the start

We look at the emotional, physical and spiritual sides of how a person is doing, because that is usually where lasting change actually starts.
